Pokemon TCG 2021-2022 Standard Rotation

Pokemon TCG 2021-2022 Standard Rotation

From September 10, 2021, the Pokemon Trading Card Game will be rotating older sets out from Standard Tournament play. Some of our gym trainers' favourite cards such as Dedenne GX, ADP GX and Pokemon Communication will no longer be playable.

Only cards from the Sword and Shield base set and higher will be playable in the Standard Tournament format. Popular cards from the playable sets include Zacian V, Evolution Incense and Crobat V.

Look out for the Regulation Marks which make it easier for players to see which cards are playable in the current rotations. They can be found on the bottom left of a Pokemon card! Any cards with the Regulation Mark 'D' or higher are legal in Standard Tournaments. Legality/playability for cards will be tied to the Regulation Marks instead of expansion release from now on, making it easier for players to determine which cards they can still play.

Due to Fairy type Pokemon not receiving further support after the release of the Sword and Shield series, basic Fairy energy will also stop being playable post-rotation.

If you are confused about which cards can still be played post-rotation, ask one of our friendly gym trainers for some guidance!
