Why are we called "Brokenvase"?

I chose this username or handle "Brokenvase" as early as my late teens. I chose this name without knowing that in Japan, there was an actual art form with the same idea in mind. It's called kintsugi, which means golden joinery. Brokenvase as a name had the same philosophy as kintsugi in that both aims to celebrate the "breakage" as part of its history and its made beautiful because of it. While Kintsugi treats pottery this way, Brokenvase was meant to see people the same way.

All of us journey Through life in some way or other broken, some slightly more than others. Instead of hiding this brokenness, we should see them as part our history. Much like the joinery in kintsugi, these "golden" lines of life make us more beautiful than before, stronger than before, more resilient than before, and makes us who we are now. We are all a “Brokenvase”, unique in our brokenness, but still amazingly beautiful when pieced backed together.

This is the sorry Behind Brokenvase, and how I kept this name for more than 20 years until Brokenvase Games was born.
